10 Years Mama Jane Foundation!

Mariska and Esther have been a week in Jinja. It was lovely to be there! A fantastic week with an extensive feast on Sunday. Laughing, dancing, singing , eating ... really enjoyable !

There was also time to talk about developments at Mama Jane and Uganda.

In future we have a big challenge. There's a new law in Uganda. Care of children has to done by families and communities. That means no longer an orphanage as Mama Jane. That's quite a turnaround for the orphanage and its organization. However, it's very much in the interests of the children. We have had good conversations with Agnes and her son Seith. In June they will attend a conference in Johannesburg to discuss with sister organizations and other stakeholders about the approach and execution.
An exciting development which we support wholeheartedly .

Mama Jane Children Care Centre

Vulnerable children deserve a promising future

Mama Jane was founded in the 1980s. During this turbulent times hundreds of thousands of people died during the reign of Obote and Amin. Many children became orphans. They were taken in by Jane, to whom the orphanage is named.

Due to civil wars, HIV and poverty, Mama Jane's existence remains highly needed to take care of children.
