"Years ago my parents already told me lots of stories about Uganda. When I visited Uganda myself in 2001 ... I fell in love with this beautiful and fascinating country and people. I decided to go back to Uganda and Jinja.
In 2004 I joined the Mame Jane family for 4 months. I've really enjoyed my time there and learned a lot about about a complete different world. There was a need for improvement in the orphanage and the staff had plenty of ideas to do so. Only the money to implement them was not available. We provide this money through the foundation.
I'm glad I can contribute in this way, not interfering with the process and handling things. It is great to see improvements at Mama Jane and really nice to have people here in Holland helping with warm and kind sponsoring. Achieving things together makes me feel good. The best part is meeting grown-ups of Mama Jane after years, and see they are doing well"

"As a volunteer I have been at Mama Jana's in 1995. I had just completed my study Social Pedagogy and wanted to broaden my horizons. Mama Jane, Uganda, actually never left my mind! After those six months I went back to Mama Jane but now for longer time.
For more 18 months I lived in the orphanage, I sympathized with the children and staff. It has shaped me and I'm looking back with pleasure of that special time. The last 20 years I went back regularly for a short or longer time and have seen Mama Jane orphanage expanding into what it is today.
Now I am still actively involved with Mama Jane. Obviously in a different role and a different perspective. As the Mama Jane Foundation we are trying to support the orphanage as good as possible. I am proud about our achievements."

"After completing my Computer Science studies at the University of Twente (end of 1996) I was ready for new experiences. Just some time away from theory, computers and books.
After a preparation of 9 months, I went to live at Mama Jane for six months. I enjoyed just being part of the home, accompanying the children and supporting where I could. I learned a lot during that six months and I really started to appreciate life in the Netherlands. Life as an orphan is extremely difficult, and I am so glad we - as foundation Mama Jane - can at least offer them a school education and medical support.
Over the past 25 years (it is now 2022) we have visited the home several times to see how things are going. It is almost unreal to see the progress that has been made in these years. The great thing is that we have a large amount of loyal donors who have already supported us since the foundation started. I am also proud of the fact that all the money donated is send directly to the orphanage. So nothing gets lost in the proces!"

"Since 2014, I have been working as an entrepreneur under the name Fun2DeSign. In addition to fun (enjoying the things you do), I have also incorporated my initials DS into the company name. It is important for me to be able to contribute to society without expecting anything in return, in addition to earning money.
Esther and I used to be colleagues, and I knew that Esther (together with Mariska and Frits) had been working on the Mama Jane Foundation for years. I find it inspiring the way they are working to make the world a little more beautiful and better.
Together, we thought that the website could use a refresh. After careful consideration, I started working on my own good cause: a new website for the Mama Jane Foundation. In 2015, we presented the new website to the world, and since then, I have been doing the maintenance and management of it in the background.
The world of the internet, and the way websites are used and created, is constantly changing. In the past, you would surf behind your computer. Nowadays, you mostly use your mobile phone.
In 2023, the 'old' website has therefore been replaced with a new and fresh look. I hope to continue contributing to the beautiful work of the Mama Jane Foundation and Mama Jane Children Care Centre in this way for many years to come."
